A free account gets the lessons, 120 Rush, 120 Solitaire and a seat at any table you are invited to. Unlimited 120s against the computer players starts at CAD $2.99/month, and hosting your own tables for family and friends is CAD $4.99/month.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Growler Cards runs in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install.
How many people can play?
A table has 2, 3 or 4 seats. With four players you play as two teams of two, partners across from each other. With two or three, everyone plays alone. Computer players fill any empty seat.
Can I play 120s with family living away?
Yes. That is what Growler Cards was built for. A member hosts a table and sends a link, and anyone with a free account can take a seat, whether they are in Gander, Fort McMurray or Halifax. Hosting is part of Solo + Multiplayer at CAD $4.99/month.
Can I play against the computer?
Yes. Four computer players are waiting: Puffin Pete, Aunt Bride, Uncle Mose and Ace, each one tougher than the last.
I have never played 120s. Where do I start?
Start with the free lessons. They teach 120s in eight short steps at a real card table, and no account is needed.
What are the rules of 120s?
Players bid 20, 25 or 30 to name trump, the bidder takes the 3 card kitty, and everyone plays five tricks. Each trick is worth 5 points, the big three trumps add 5 each, and the first side to 120 wins.
Is 120s the same as 45s?
They are close relatives with the same card order. 120s adds bidding and a kitty and is played to 120 points.
Can we use our own house rules?
Yes. When you host a table you can switch the common house rules on or off, such as stick the dealer, bid to go out, dealer can take and ace low.
